Apologies for how grainy and low-light this photo is, but the sample was a surprise and a delight that I was not prepared for with my dSLR or notebook.
Smooth, wormwoody, and a beautiful louche. The thoughts around the table were that this vintage absinthe tastes similar in character to a bottle of 2002 Francois Guy that we were also enjoying, but truly, this vintage Spanish absinthe is the kind of balanced flavour and scent that you’d consider selling a kidney to afford more.
Bottles of the vintage absinthe Absenta Argenti 68% are still available in limited quantities from Oxygénée at a price of £595 per intact bottle.
Balanced is the perfect way to describe this incredible absinthe, though the 2002 Francois Guy was a little more to my palette. I submit that as evidence that I do not have entirely expensive tastes!
It finally came in the other day along with a vintage sample of Pernod Fils from 1910…A very nice absinthe indeed, refreshing anise and wormwood tones with a subtle honey sweetness
Hooray! Glad you enjoyed it; we certainly did.
Just read your comment (on Wormwood Society) on the pre-ban you also received… “it tasted just like autumn meadows and it was very smooth and creamy”
Oh dreamy!
